Welcome to Carson City-Crystal Alternative Education!
OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to provide ALL students with an alternative setting that eliminates barriers surrounding graduation and life/career transitions.
We will provide a safe environment staffed by caring teachers and mentors who take a genuine interest in the lives, needs, and goals of each student.
We are a 6th-12th grade Alternative Education Program operated by the Carson City-Crystal Area School District.
We offer an extensive variety of online courses using the Edgenuity (E2020) program.
We serve students up to 20 years of age through our Alternative Program (26 years of age if receiving special education services).
We also provide academic support in the evenings and weekends via email and phone.
Many students access services on site but because we operate under a Seat Time Waiver through the State of Michigan, we can offer a wide variety of virtual learning and schedule options that best suit the student and their unique life circumstances.
Attendance on site is not mandatory as students are able to access online coursework from any location with wifi service.
(Progress on course work is monitored by teaching staff and minimum weekly hourly requirements apply).
Some of the reasons we are a successful "alternative" to a traditional high school setting are:
- CHOICE- Our students chose to be here!
- SIZE- Our size allows us to build closer relationships with students and focus on individual academic and life goals.
- FLEXIBILITY- Our programs are individualized and students can work at their own pace, accessing the learning center as much or as little as needed
- ATMOSPHERE- Our culture is one of respect and acceptance.
